How to open a Google Drive link from email

  1. Open your email app (Mail on iPhone, Gmail, Outlook, etc.).
  2. Tap or click the message that has the link.
  3. Look for blue, underlined text that says “Open”, “View”, or a long link starting with drive.google.com.
  4. Tap or click the link once. Wait a few seconds — do not tap again right away.
  5. If your phone asks “Open in Safari?” or “Open in Chrome?”, tap Open.
  6. If it asks you to sign in to Google, use the email address the file was shared with. Ask a family member if you are not sure of the password.
  7. When the file opens, you can view it. To save a copy, look for Download (↓ arrow) or Make a copy.
Safety tip: Only open links from people you know. If an email feels urgent or asks for money, call the person on a number you already have — do not use the number in the email.
